Irish historical fictional thriller
The Cause

Two countries
Two religions
Two friends
One secret

The O’Donnell’s are an Irish Catholic family living through "the troubles" in 1970s & 1980s London, though the conflict in Ireland had been raging for centuries.
Their differing views about freedom and civil rights influences the decisions they make and the secrets they keep.

Why is Claire's family estranged?
What will Hugh do for his beliefs?
Will Molly ever understand?
For family and friends, the reach of The Cause and fear of telling the truth have devastating effects on their loves, liberty and life.

Whilst the subject matter of the book is serious, there is much light and shade to be had, particularly in Molly’s exploits as a teenager.
We are reminded of some key historic moments but my favourites are the songs of the 1980’s!
